What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a medical device, consisting of a small, solid post made of titanium, a biocompatible metal, that achieves a perfect integration with the bone and is used to replace the root of one or more missing teeth through a surgical procedure under local anesthesia.
The implant is inserted into the bone and serves as a support for the construction of the crown, denture, or bridge that will replace one or more missing teeth.
